Vimeo film uploaded – The Chase

One of my reasons for starting this blog was to follow my video progress towards creating a film that I felt was good enough to upload to Vimeo. Well that day is today. On a walk to the shops with my daughter we chatted about making a short film. I came up with the idea of being chased though the woods (there is a small wooded walk between our house and the shops) and my daughter thought it would be good if the girl in the film hid from the monster chasing her. The first couple of shots were not very good until I had the idea of the girl running into shot and then running out of shot. My daughter put in the concept that the girl would see the Monster (the camera) and then running out of shot. We took a number of shots in the woodland walk and then a few shots in the play park before a long shot running off in the distance. I especially like the clip when my daughter climbs up the climbing frame and looks directly at the camera and then runs off.

I linked the scenes together and did some simple edits of entering and leaving the frame. I added some footsteps and some background wind which gave it a tense feel. I searched the Vimeo music library and found a fantastic track by the MIT choir. After some extra cuts to the music and finding the best bits to use I added some titles and end credits.

Here it is

The Chase
